The problems

The water line should be the first thing to check when the ice maker is not working. You need to ensure that the water supply is not disrupted by any obstacle whether inside or outside the tube.

Once you are satisfied that the water line is free from any such hurdle, check the connectivity of the water line to the ice maker. Next, see if the water supply is turned on or not.

If your ice trays are not filling then there is some problem with the water supply.

Moreover, a continuous opening and closure of the refrigerator door can shift the ice tray to an awkward position where the ice maker cannot operate. If you have installed the ice maker recently then it would take a minimum of 24 hours to produce the first batch of ice cubes.

The setup

Before starting the reset process, remove the ice cubes in the trays or the ones lying on the exterior. Furthermore, the ice deposited on the walls and roof of your freezer will melt down, so you would need a towel to soak all the water residue inside the unit.

The Ice Maker Reset

At the left of the ice maker, you would find an on/off switch. The display of the refrigerator will show an ice-on and off icon. In addition to this, you will find a test and fill button at the front of the trays. Start off by pressing and holding this button to initiate the process.

If the turn and cycling process does not start then you should remove the bin to try an alternative way. After the removal, firmly shake the ice maker a couple of times and then put the bin back in. Turn the power off for 30 seconds and then turn it on again.

Give your refrigerator 4 to 6 hours in order to make ice. It is almost certain that the icemaker with start producing frozen cubes. If there is still no positive result then it is evident that the unit needs replacement or repair.
